Import of American Sport Boats (ASB)

Requirements on Exhaust Emissions for CE-marking sport boats using module PCA (Post Construction Assessment)

For a successful CE/ post construction certification (PCA ) of import boats into the EU/ EEA the boats engines have to comply with certain exhaust regulations. Depending on engine type the following regulations are appliccable.*

 

For spark ignited inboard engines (gasoline engines) (SI):

  • Conformity with the new recreational craft directive 2013/53/EU
  • US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2008 and following years
  • Barcleys official California Code of Regulations - CARB 4 STARS

 

For outboard engines (OB):

  • Conformity with the new recreational craft directive 2013/53/EU
  • BSO – Bodenseeschiffahrtsordnung – STAGE 2
  • US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2008 and following years
  • Barcleys official California Code of Regulations - CARB 3 STARS

 

For compression ignited engines (diesel engines) (CI) with engine power <37 kW :

  • Conformity with the new recreational craft directive 2013/53/EU
  • EU Directive 97/68/EC
  • US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2002 Recreational Engine Rule
  • US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 1999 Commercial Engine Rule

 

For compression ignited engines (diesel engines) (CI) regardless the engine power:

  • Conformity with the new recreational craft directive 2013/53/
  • EU Directive 97/68/EC
  • EU Regulation (EC) 595/2009
  • US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2008 and following years

 

 

As proof of conformity an emission control label has to be attached to the engine. Some examples of emission control plates you can find here:
